This cane comes pre-woven and is sold by the piece or in rolls. Once the amount needed us neasured and cut, the piece is then soaked in water for approximately 1-20 minutes so that it is less brittle to work with. It is then pressed into a groove/channel around the perimeter of the chair. To finish it off, glue is then placed in the channel and a length of spline tapped into the groove. As the seat dries, it shrinks and becomes taut.
